In 1972, some 100 years after Elbert Gubbels & Zonen was founded, Queen Juliana authorized the company to use the expression "Royal Dutch Pipe Factory". Elbert Gubbels & Zonen has been producing pipes under the Big Ben brand since the 1950s and moved the factory to the Netherlands.
