The blowfish pipe's beginnings

Although the Danish pipe style is well-known, few types are more revered than the "Blowfish," which was created by brilliant Danes. These pipes, sometimes known as the "Blowfish Pipe," may be found in magazines and pipe catalogs, as well as on muxiang pipe websites and auction sites, and they are highly popular.

Robert, a pipe collector, contacted Jess Kunovi about building a Blowfish pipe, which he didn't think would be a problem for such a master, but Jess Kunovi was overwhelmed by his request because he didn't know what type of pipe Robert required.

Jorg Lehmann, a knowledgeable and experienced pipe collector, confirms that this misunderstanding is very common, recounting how he asked German pipe maker Becker to make him a puffer pipe: he explained the style of pipe he wanted, but Becker responded that the style he was looking for was not available.

Robert next enquired of Lars Iwassen, probably one of Denmark's best pipe masters and usually regarded as the style's originator, and he received the same response!
